You have to look at it for at least 2 mins so that you can tell which is the hours hand and which is the minutes hand !

For similar project I’ve used RGB Flexible Light Strips from superbrightleds(dot)com.
9 LEDs strip has the same length as circumference of disc so it fits perfectly inside casing.
